The call of the chain saw

Last Week, I heard chain saws—running and running and running. In the aftermath of hurricanes Rita, Humberto, and Ike, it was a late afternoon concert of chain saws marked the close of the day as people worked in the relative cooler part of the day until dark or the mosquitoes chased them indoors.

So, chain saws were not an expected sound at this time of year.

A little investigation.

A neighbor—kitty corner across the street had two very large pine trees flanking his driveway entrance. One of them had been struck by lightening and was split. The city came to take that tree down. It require a lift, two men wielding  chain saws and three people on the ground to watch; the road blocked off for the best part of the day.

Now more sky is visible and perhaps even sunsets.
