A Coloring Book Exercise
Trying to figure out a way to study color that was fun but not technically challenging AND using fabric was a bit of a challenge.
After some thought, I went to the Dollar Store, thumbed through a large number of coloring books and picked one that had large simple shapes of puppies and kitties.
the idea was to prepare the templates, and once figuring out the block, then we could concentrate on color.
It was a fun exercise and I think everyone learned a lot—some learned there stash.i.e. varieity of fabrics was limited with mostly mid-range values, lacking both light and dark.
As I was the group leader, I made samples before each class. We did monochrome, complementary, analogous and tertiary.
I put all of mine together in this fun little quilt.

Since my grandchildren seem to be too old for puppies and kitties; I think it will make a great quilt auction or donation piece in the future.
Your coloring book animal quilt is adorable !!! What a great idea.
It was a fun project and an excellent way to study color. Everyone enjoyed this but some people swithed to pieced blocks; Log Cabins will also work–it is easier if the block has several pieces.
Oh that IS a fun little quilt! What a great idea.
