Lemon Tree still so pretty

Last winter was hard.

We had freezing temperatures for so many days, the lemon tree which had produced so bountifully dropped all of its leaves and we were thinking we might need a replacement. We have grown quite fond of Meyer’s lemons.

That tree re-leafed earlier this year and put out a few blossoms. We spied a few nub of new lemons but only a half dozen–not nearly enough for our culinary adventures.

On Sunday I mowed the yard –a full acre of grass–some had not been mowed this spring due to rain and huge puddles–it is an old rice field. I was pleased to see that lemon tree covered with blossoms–that hopefully one of my four hives of bees had discovered and pollinated.
