Lemon Pie

Several years ago we planted a Meyer’s Lemon Tree out on my property on Highway 90. We were pleased and surprised to harvest about four or five lemons the first year.

The next year we had twenty or so.

The little tree is not very tall–maybe four feet at most. It has survived hurricanes, drought, and freezes.

This year I picked the lemons as the branches were all touching the ground ==absolutely loaded with lemons.

About forty of them.

we have had lemon on fish, lemon on pasta dishes, and of course lemon pie.

This pie was made using my grandmother’s recipe and dirties up a lot of dishes and saucepans–one of my dad’s favorite pies. When I made it for him, I used her lemon juicer–but this time I used the orange plastic one with a bowl we got as a wedding present 46 years ago.
