Chicory
I’ve missed several 52 week photo challenges–for two I did not have ready internet access and the others–well, life just happened. I missed this one too. Somehow the website was down but I did take this photo.
It was supposed to be a macro and vignette but I think this photo better conveys the idea of chicory.
It grows alongside the roadways in the Midwest–and other places too, I’m sure as Louisiana coffee has chicory added. the blue flowers close up at night and if you pick it thinking you will have a lovely bouquet for your table, it quickly folds up too.
I’ve seen one art quilt with chicory as the topic by Laura Wasilowski. The piece captured the free ness of the chicory but I think the piece has been sold several years ago as it no longer appears on her website. I guess I might have to make one myself–after I finish several other projects.
