Calcasieu Cutup Quilt Show

Several weekends ago, Sherry and I decided to forgo a day of sewing and go to the quilt show in Sulphur Louisiana.

It was a great show, lots of fun quilts to see> Sherry and I both bought an accuquilt cutter, something we had both been lusting after for several months if not a year or more. Mine still has parts to come and I haven’t quite decided what I am going to cut up first but I know I need some more 2/5 inch squares to finish up a lozenge quilt project started as a leader ender. I thought I had enough solid squares to make it complete from my mother’s fabric stash—from the days in which you got a five inch square sample of all the solids in an mail order catalog type situation.

I was able to find some nice solids at PIckets and Posies—which I will write about later. But for now, enjoy the photos of the quilt show located here on smugmug at sylviaweirphotos Calcasieu cutup quilt show.

I’ve tried to paste in the gallery setting but I haven’t figured out how to do it. The quilts there were fun–and Pepito made the most wonderful tortilla soup I’ve tasted. He was a bit shy in having his photo taken but grinned ear to ear when I complemented him on the made from scratch soup. Good Mexican food is a must–
