Garden produce

Tomatoes in this part of Texas are a challenge if you must carry water–as I did for this lone plant. Near it is a pepper plant with four large bell peppers on it. I’ve had several tomato sandwiches, one with a slice of red onion on a bolillo topped with smoked swiss cheese–most tasty–and of course the standard BLT.  These tomatoes are scheduled to make an appearance in Wisconsin along with the bell peppers.

  1. I sympathize with keeping tomatoes watered in the Texas blistering heat, but they are well worth it. I also wrote a blog post yesterday about my husband and his love of growing tomatoes and how I would not let him plant his tomato garden the last year of his life. Grumpy old me, but I was trying to take good care of him!
