Mississippi Flood
The Mississippi was also at flood stage with the water lapping at the very edge of the levee on Feriole Park. Some years the water extends up Blackhawk Avenue forcing businesses to close and the Villa Louis to be sand-bagged. Spring floods are expected due to snow melt but the flooding was most noticeable in late June. Mud slides caused two large roads to be closed due to huge rocks the size of houses in the road–and a few houses slid down the banks.
