Polyfil in bulk

husband asked me if I needed anything while he was out shopping–his favorite is Walmart–mine is not—but I was working on some sock dolls for the church gift shop and had used one of those standard bags about 18 inches or so high. He came back with this box. It was bursting out of the bottom and as we opened it, more came out–it is now nearly twice as high as the box and as I take some out it seems to grow even more.

The clerk at Walmart said she had never seen this item before but it was in the fabric section.

I’ll be set for making a lot of sock dolls.

This is 10 pounds of fiber! and that is my foot and my hand in the photo with the camera in the other.

  1. I tried to finish using a 5 lb. bag stuffing pillows at Christmas. It grows exponentially as you use it! Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we might have to give it a name as it seems to occupy a space about the size of a person in my sewing room.

  3. I finally used up my 10 lb. box of polyfil making teddy bears for the church bazaar last November. Good thing, as I had no intention of moving it along with the other endless stuff in the studio. In the end, I had to buy one additional bag to finish the last of 7 bears.

    • That box is scary looking–it keeps looking larger every time I look. The sock dolls did not take that much—I hadn’t thought about bears, though.
