Wasting time

March 20, 2007

It’s amazing how much time can be spent in perusing email and looking at websites. That’s time that could be spent in drawing or even in writing my artist statement.

Writing an artist statement seems to be a difficult task. For visual artists, I suspect we think of our work as being our statement. But condensing a visual experience into pithy verbage might be as integral to the work as Klee’s attempt to reduce a musical experience into a single visual event.

Now, back to drawing.

  1. Sylvia, I couldn’t agree more. I use these diversions as avoidance until I’m ready for the task I actually need to do. Reading your post helped me remember to focus.
